In January 1999, Family Car joined forces with two leading international publishers, Hearst Corporation and International Data Group (IDG). Re-named Motor-China, the magazine draws approximately 50% of its editorial from Troy, Michigan-based Motor Magazine, the leading monthly trade publication in the United States. Editorial from Motor enables Motor China to provide Chinese mechanics and automotive technicians with the latest information about automotive technology impacting the China market.
The Market
China is one of the world’s fastest growing automotive markets. Starting with only 5,000 cars in 1982, production soared to 507,100 units in 1998. By 2005, domestic passenger car production will exceed over 1 million units, according to China Business Update, an automotive consulting firm based in Amherst, Massachusetts.
Mission
Motor-China Magazine is to provide Chinese repair and maintenance organizations with up-to-date information about new products and the latest domestic and international developments in automotive technology.
